Saturday afternoon was reserved for semifinal matches. Czech players advanced in all three disciplines, Slovaks will play for gold in doubles and triples, Romanian Bobis will play for gold in singles.
Czech single player Ondřej Vít played in semifinal against French Vincent Voisinot. Ondřej Vít himself lost to Voisinot 1:2 at last year’s World Championships of Teams in Brandýs. Experts expected a tough game and their expectations had come true. First set was easier for Vít (won 11:7) but both players fought bravely in the second one – score 15:14 speaks for itself.
The second semifinal between Georgel Bobis and Sipos Arpád was controlled by the Romanian star. He won the first set 11:7 and the second one 11:8 and though Sipos Arpád performed very well against the Romanian single player, it was not enough for advancement to final this time.
There is a question mark at the name of Bobis, who later in doubles had unspecified leg injury and did not play in triples semifinal. We will see if he is going to be 100 percent ready for the battle against Vít.
