European Championships 2015 is hosted by Humenné, a middle-sized town with the population of 35 000 inhabitants in the north-east of Slovakia, not far from the border with Poland and Ukraine.
Humenné lies in very attractive natural surroundings, close to Vihorlat Mountains and Poloniny National Park where the borders of three countries meet – Slovakia, Poland and Ukraine.
The landmark monument is the Renaissance mansion that was built at the place of an original stone castle at the beginning of 17th century. Nowadays, it houses a museum and hosts various cultural events.
A part of the museum in an open-air museum of traditional architecture and housing in this region of Slovakia, the oldest building being the wooden church from easternmost Slovak village of Nová Sedlica, dating back to 1754. Around Humenné, there are also other orthodox wooden churches worth a visit.
About 40 km from Humenné you can visit the Andy Warhol Museum with the second largest collection in the world after Pittsburg. The parents of the famous artist came from this region.
